Kyle Schassburger Named Director of Broadcasting for Louisiana Tech Athletics

RUSTON, LA – Louisiana Tech Athletics, in collaboration with Learfield, announced the appointment of Kyle Schassburger as the new Director of Broadcasting, effective immediately. Schassburger, a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience in collegiate sports broadcasting, will now serve as the Voice of the Bulldogs.

Brad Pietz, General Manager of Louisiana Tech Sports Properties, praised Schassburger’s selection, noting that his name consistently surfaced during the hiring process. "I am thrilled to have Kyle join us and look forward to his dynamic contributions to our broadcasts," Pietz stated. The hire is particularly significant as it follows the lengthy legacies of previous broadcasters Dave Nitz and Malcolm Butler.

Previously, Schassburger worked as a Network Coordinator at Learfield, managing radio broadcasts for several high-profile athletic programs, including Arkansas and Tulane. His experience in content creation and live production will play a crucial role in enhancing Louisiana Tech’s audio content and fan engagement.

Expressing his excitement, Schassburger emphasized his commitment to amplifying the Louisiana Tech brand while honoring past traditions. "I’m honored to build upon Dave Nitz’s legacy, bringing my energy and enthusiasm to the Ruston community," he said.

Ryan Ivey, Vice President and Director of Athletics, noted that Schassburger stood out in a national search that attracted over 100 candidates. "We wanted someone who bridges our historic past with a vision for the future," Ivey affirmed.

A graduate of Western Illinois University, Schassburger holds a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting. His history as a studio host and producer exemplifies his capabilities to elevate the Bulldogs’ broadcasting efforts significantly. As he embarks on this new chapter, Louisiana Tech fans can anticipate an exciting era of sports broadcasting.
