LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — The Lafayette Consolidated Government has unveiled a new covered bus stop on Louisiana Avenue, conveniently located near I-10 and Academy Sports. This addition is part of an ongoing effort to enhance the city’s public transportation infrastructure by providing sheltered stops for commuters.
The initiative is driven by the Adopt-a-Stop program, which enables local businesses and community groups to sponsor the installation of these invaluable transit amenities. Notably, the new bus stop is equipped with solar phone chargers, further catering to the needs of commuters in today’s fast-paced environment.
Councilwoman Liz Hebert, who initiated the program a decade ago, expressed her pride in the city’s progress. "I’m really proud this is going on in Lafayette, and that we keep adding these stops,” she stated. “You just never know the difference one stop can make for so many people.”
