Saban Named to 2025 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class

Press Release: Nick Saban to be Inducted into Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame

NATCHITOCHES, LA – The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame (LSHOF) Class of 2025 has welcomed 12 new members, highlighted by the announcement of retired football coach Nick Saban’s induction this summer. Known for leading LSU to its 2003 national championship, Saban’s enshrinement marks a long-awaited occasion, originally planned for 2020 but delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ceremony, scheduled for June 28, is part of a three-day celebration running from June 26-28 at the Natchitoches Events Center. The announcement was made by Ronnie Rantz, CEO/President of the LSHOF Foundation, alongside chairman Doug Ireland.

Saban’s induction ties him to several other honorees, including Glenn Guilbeau, Ed Daniels, Andrew Whitworth, and Herb Vincent, all of whom played significant roles during Saban’s LSU tenure. Whitworth was a key player in the championship team, while Vincent served as the lead sports publicist.

The 2025 class also features prominent figures such as NBA All-Stars Danny Granger and Vickie Johnson, and college baseball coaching legend Joe Scheuermann. Additionally, LSU gymnastics star April Burkholder and transformative high school football coach Dale Weiner are also included.

Vincent is to be recognized with the Dave Dixon Louisiana Sports Leadership Award, while Daniels and Guilbeau will receive the Distinguished Service Award in Sports Journalism from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

The upcoming induction event promises three days of festivities, including seven events, three of which will be free to the public. For more information, visit LaSportsHall.com or contact the LSHOF Foundation office at 318-238-4255 to stay updated on the 2025 Induction Celebration.
