AJ Bates Selected for International Basketball Tour with Athletes in Action
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech’s guard AJ Bates has earned a spot on the Athletes in Action Basketball team for an upcoming international tour in the Czech Republic from June 28 to July 11.
Bates will join a select group of student-athletes from eight different college basketball programs, competing in exhibition games against the Czech Republic’s U20 and U23 national teams. In addition to the games, the team will engage in outreach efforts, including a youth basketball camp and coaching clinic, aimed at fostering skills and community connection.
Athletes in Action is a faith-oriented organization that brings together college athletes for sports tours and leadership training, focusing on personal growth and making a global impact.
During his freshman season with the Bulldogs, Bates played in 29 games, starting four, and averaged 4.6 points per game. His contributions included 57 rebounds, 49 assists, and 22 steals. The upcoming tour offers Bates a unique opportunity to enhance his skills in an international competitive setting while representing Louisiana Tech and the Athletes in Action program.
