Ford Pemberton Named Head Baseball Coach at ULM
MONROE, La. – The University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) has appointed Ford Pemberton as its 13th head baseball coach, announced by Director of Athletics John Hartwell on Wednesday, June 11. Pemberton will be officially introduced during a press conference scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Hartwell expressed his excitement, praising Pemberton’s reputation as a "relentless recruiter" and "exceptional player development specialist." Pemberton noted his enthusiasm for joining ULM and his commitment to building a championship-caliber team that both the university and local community can take pride in.
Originally from Bossier City, Pemberton arrives from Memphis, where he served as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. Under his guidance, Memphis achieved record offensive performances, including 153 extra-base hits in the 2025 season and a single-game record of seven home runs earlier in 2024. Pemberton’s tenure at Memphis was marked by significant achievements, such as leading the team in home runs and stolen bases, and securing the No. 5-ranked JUCO recruiting class in the nation.
Before his tenure at Memphis, Pemberton was at Southeastern Louisiana, where he also excelled in recruiting and helped lead the Lions to a program-best .978 fielding percentage. His coaching journey includes roles at Nicholls and high schools in Louisiana, where he contributed to championship successes.
Pemberton holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from LSU and a Master’s in Sport Administration from Arkansas State. He resides in Monroe with his wife, Sarah, and their three children.
Pending approval from the UL System Board, Pemberton is set to bring his extensive coaching experience and local ties to ULM, with promises to foster both athletic and personal growth among his players.
