Onyah Favour Shines as an All-American at NCAA Championships
Eugene, Ore. – Southeastern Louisiana University’s track and field standout, Onyah Favour, wrapped up her season on a high note, earning All-American honors during the national semifinal of the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships held at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus.
Favour, a sophomore hailing from Asaba, Nigeria, faced tough competition in the first of three heats, finishing sixth with a time of 52.39 seconds. Her performance ultimately placed her as the 16th-fastest overall, securing her position on the prestigious second team All-American list.
Head track and field coach, Michael Rheams, praised Favour’s outstanding season, highlighting her resilience in overcoming significant challenges, particularly her health issues following the NCAA East First Round meet. "What a historic season for such an amazing athlete… I couldn’t be prouder and more honored to have witnessed her journey," said Rheams. He also credited Coach Damion Jeanpiere for his pivotal role in Favour’s development and assistant athletic trainer Alexis Ring for her dedication to athlete health and support.
