Major Leadership Changes Announced at Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development
In a pivotal week for Louisiana’s infrastructure, Governor Jeff Landry unveiled significant leadership changes at the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) shortly after the legislature approved a comprehensive overhaul of the agency. Glenn Ledet, previously the executive director of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA), will assume the role of DOTD secretary starting Monday.
Ledet, an engineer with extensive experience in prestigious consulting firms, expressed enthusiasm for his new position. “I look forward to working alongside the agency’s dedicated team and partners throughout the state to strengthen Louisiana’s transportation network,” he stated, promising a focus on safe and efficient infrastructure development.
Governor Landry highlighted Ledet’s impressive background in strategic growth and operations within nationally recognized engineering, planning, and construction management firms. The current DOTD secretary, Joe Donahue, will transition to the role of executive counsel, where his contributions in a challenging environment have been acknowledged by the Governor.
Landry appointed Donahue as secretary in January 2024, tasking him with developing a reformative plan for DOTD. This initiative resulted in a detailed review by an independent firm, ultimately leading to a legislative package aimed at revitalizing the department. “Joe has done an outstanding job in one of the most thankless roles in state government,” Landry noted.
Moreover, Eric Dauphine, a seasoned DOTD employee with 26 years of experience, will take a deputy secretary position. He has served in various engineering roles and currently acts as a district administrator at one of the agency’s nine regional offices.
These leadership transitions come at a critical time as Louisiana seeks to address its pressing transportation challenges, sparking hope for an effective revitalization of the state’s infrastructure.
