Journalist Glenn Guilbeau Inducted into Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame | LSU

Glenn Guilbeau Joins Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025

Metairie native Glenn Guilbeau will be inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame on June 28 in Natchitoches, celebrating a remarkable and unconventional career in sports journalism. Guilbeau’s journey mirrors the modern college athlete’s transfer portal experience, having navigated a winding path through various universities and media outlets before reaching this prestigious recognition.

Beginning his education at LSU in 1979, Guilbeau’s college experience took him to the University of New Orleans and Missouri, returning to LSU before graduating from Missouri in 1983. His professional career has largely focused on Baton Rouge, where he has covered LSU sports extensively.

Guilbeau started as a sports writer for outlets like Tiger Rag before moving to the Montgomery Advertiser, Slidell Sentry News, Alexandria Town Talk, and the Mobile Press-Register. Later, he returned to Baton Rouge to write for The Advocate and Gannett Louisiana, ultimately becoming a national columnist for OutKick/FOX News. His career has come full circle, as he is back writing for Tiger Rag.

Reflecting on his career, Guilbeau expresses his enjoyment in exploring new opportunities. “It has always been a lot of fun and adventure to leave a job, preferably on your own, and start a new one,” he said. His unfiltered writing style has made him a controversial figure; while he often angers fans, he believes in honest critique. “If the home team messes up, he’s going to point it out,” and he’s aware of the mixed reactions from passionate LSU supporters, noting, “for every 10 fans who get pissed, there is one who loves it.”

As Guilbeau prepares for his induction, he leaves a lasting legacy in Louisiana sports journalism through his distinctive voice and fearless opinions.
