Mechanical Issues Halt Belle Chasse to Scarsdale Ferry Service

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA — Commuters in Plaquemines Parish should prepare for changes in ferry service as the Belle Chasse to Scarsdale ferry is currently out of operation due to mechanical problems, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).

In an official statement, the DOTD informed the public that "the second Plaquemines Ferry is out of service until further notice due to a mechanical malfunction." Until repairs are completed, the Pointe à la Hache ferry will operate with adjusted hours, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Currently, there is no estimated timeline for when the Belle Chasse to Scarsdale ferry will resume service, but officials have pledged to provide updates as more details become available.
