Pacers Star Tyrese Haliburton Exits NBA Finals Game 7 Due to Injury

Tyrese Haliburton, guard for the Indiana Pacers, suffered a right leg injury in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, forcing him to leave in the first quarter. The Pacers announced he would not return due to what was termed a “lower right leg injury,” later identified by his father as an Achilles injury. Indiana ultimately lost the game 103-91, marking their lowest playoff scoring total this season without Haliburton’s contribution.

The injury occurred shortly after Haliburton received a pass, during which he collapsed while dribbling, visibly in pain as he hit the court in anguish. Teammates assisted him off the floor, as he was unable to put weight on his right leg. Prior to the injury, Haliburton had a strong start with nine points in just seven minutes, shooting 75% from beyond the arc.

Throughout the playoffs leading up to this game, Haliburton had averaged 17.7 points, 9 assists, and 5.6 rebounds over 22 games, playing a crucial role in the Pacers’ postseason success. He had previously hit a game-winning shot in Game 1 of the Finals and had been dealing with a right calf strain during the series, which he had aggravated earlier.

In a statement before Game 7, Haliburton expressed determination to compete despite his injuries, emphasizing his desire to fight for his team and his bond with the players. He had been proactive in seeking treatment to manage his discomfort. Following a victory in Game 6, he noted the importance of being present for his team, stating that he would only step back if he was detrimental to their chances of winning.
