Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to be Broadcast Live
Sports enthusiasts across Louisiana can look forward to the much-anticipated 2025 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which will be broadcast live from Natchitoches by Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB). The event will take place on Saturday, June 28, at 7:00 PM, featuring a slate of esteemed honorees, including NFL star Andrew Whitworth, NBA All-Stars Danny Granger and Vickie Johnson, and coaching legends Joe Scheuermann, Danny Broussard, and Nick Saban. Viewers can enjoy a special "Purple Carpet" pre-show streaming from 6:00 PM on LPB’s website and YouTube channel.
For audiences unable to tune in live, WLAE-TV and WYES will air the event on July 4 and July 7, respectively. This year’s induction celebrates not just the athletic achievements but the legacy of Louisiana’s sports figures, with LPB President and CEO Clarence “C.C.” Copeland emphasizing the state’s pivotal role in organized sports.
Doug Ireland, Chairman of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, highlighted that the live telecast is a significant advancement, making the event accessible to a broader audience. The ceremony promises captivating content, including exclusive interviews, and aims to engage both sports fans and the general public.
Alongside the previously mentioned athletes and coaches, the Class of 2025 includes renowned gymnast April Burkholder, boxing legend Bobby Soileau, and high school coaching icon Dale Weiner. Sports journalists Ed Daniels and Glenn Guilbeau will also be recognized, alongside Herb Vincent, who will receive the Dave Dixon Louisiana Sports Leadership Award.
