Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame 2025 Induction Ceremony to be Broadcast Live
Louisiana sports enthusiasts are in for a treat as the prestigious Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame (LSHOF) Class of 2025 induction ceremony will be broadcast live from Natchitoches on Saturday, June 28, at 7 PM, thanks to Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB). The ceremony will honor standout athletes including NFL star Andrew Whitworth, basketball All-Stars Danny Granger and Vickie Johnson, and esteemed coaches like Nick Saban and Joe Scheuermann.
Viewers can catch the “Purple Carpet” pre-ceremony online at www.lpb.org or on YouTube starting at 6 PM. Following the live event, both WLAE-TV in New Orleans and WYES will air taped broadcasts on July 4 and July 7, respectively.
The live telecast, a first of its kind for the event, promises to deliver unforgettable moments and insights through exclusive interviews and profiles of the honorees. Clarence "C.C." Copeland, President and CEO of LPB, states, "Louisiana athletes have significantly contributed to the history of organized sports," expressing pride in being able to present the ceremony live.
Doug Ireland, Chairman of the LSHOF, remarked on the exciting evolution of the ceremony, stating that it is designed to captivate not just sports fans but also those outside the realm of athletics. In addition to Whitworth, Granger, Johnson, and Saban, the 2025 class includes 14-time All-American gymnast April Burkholder, boxing icon Bobby Soileau, and coaching legend Dale Weiner.
Moreover, esteemed sports journalists Ed Daniels and Glenn Guilbeau will be recognized with the 2025 Distinguished Service Award in Sports Journalism, while Herb Vincent of the Southeastern Conference will receive the 2025 Dave Dixon Louisiana Sports Leadership Award.
For those who miss the initial broadcast, an encore will air on July 6 at 1:30 PM and will also be available for streaming on demand.
