Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Inductees Announced

NATCHITOCHES—The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame (LSHOF) held a press conference Thursday afternoon to introduce the Class of 2025, highlighting themes of gratitude and interconnectedness among the inductees. The event, presented by La Capitol Federal Credit Union, gathered notable figures from the sports community, nine of whom were present to share their personal stories and accomplishments.

Emphasizing the importance of relationships, Glenn Guilbeau and Herb Vincent opened the conference with recollections of their friendship dating back to their LSU days. Guilbeau, a two-time Louisiana Sportswriter of the Year, received the distinguished service award in sports journalism, while Vincent, the SEC’s associate commissioner, was honored with the Dave Dixon Louisiana Sports Leadership Award.

A poignant moment came when Joe Scheuermann, whose father was inducted in 1990, expressed pride in being a father-son duo in the Hall. Scheuermann has garnered over 1,200 wins as the Delgado Community College baseball coach, leading to five JUCO World Series appearances.

Other inductees included:

  • Vickie Johnson, a pioneering figure in the WNBA and former Louisiana Tech star.
  • Danny Broussard, a legendary basketball coach at St. Thomas Moore High, known for his emphasis on fundamentals.
  • April Burkholder, a standout gymnast from LSU with 14 All-American titles.
  • Ed Daniels, remembered by his family for his contributions as a five-time Louisiana Sportscaster of the Year.

Additional inductees Dale Weiner, George “Bobby” Soileau, and NBA All-Star Danny Granger were also honored for their legacies in Louisiana sports.

With heartfelt tributes and shared memories, the event celebrated not only individual achievements but also the enduring bonds that unite them. For those who couldn’t attend, a replay of the press conference is available on the LSHOF YouTube channel.
