Louisiana Firefighters Deploy to Texas Amid Catastrophic Flooding
EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH (July 5, 2025) – The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office has dispatched a specialized 12-member team from Louisiana Task Force 2 (LATF-2) and Task Force 3 (LATF-3) to Texas to assist in emergency response efforts following severe flooding that has claimed at least 70 lives across the state’s Hill Country.
The disaster occurred along the Guadalupe River, where a sudden “deadly flood wave” unleashed a 20-foot wall of water on July 4, displacing entire communities and leaving dozens missing, including several campers. “Our Urban Search and Rescue teams are always ready to respond when called upon,” stated DPS Principal Assistant Bryan J. Adams. “I am proud of our teams’ commitment to aiding sister states in times of crisis.”
LATF-2 comprises trained personnel from Baton Rouge, Zachary, West Feliciana, and East Side Fire Departments, while LATF-3 includes responders from the Shreveport Fire Department. These teams specialize in swiftwater and Urban Search and Rescue operations, critical in such overwhelming circumstances.
The Fire Marshal’s Office lauded the courage and dedication of Louisiana’s first responders, emphasizing their readiness to support those in need beyond state lines.
