Kenzie Lewellen went into labor at home during Hurricane Milton’s approach, with her boyfriend Dewey Bennett, who was anxious due to his father’s death during a previous hurricane. As the storm caused flooding, the couple decided to go to the hospital to avoid being stranded. However, the roads were dangerous, and Lewellen eventually needed a cesarean section.
Despite complications during labor, little Dewey Lester Bennett IV was born healthy amidst the chaos of the storm. The experience was intense and nerve-wracking, but the couple was grateful for the support of the medical team at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The hospital staff went above and beyond to ensure the safety of the mother and child during the hurricane.
The birth of their son brought immense joy to both Lewellen and Bennett, and they felt like it was a miracle given the challenging circumstances. The couple shared a special moment as they held their newborn son for the first time, knowing that he was a part of both of them.
As they looked ahead to the future, they planned to tell little Dewey about the unique circumstances of his birth, including the hurricane that raged outside as he came into the world. Despite the challenges they faced, Lewellen and Bennett were overjoyed to welcome their son and looked forward to sharing this incredible story with him as he grew up.
