Long-time friends Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck are currently not in touch as Affleck deals with his split from Jennifer Lopez. During a press event at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Smith revealed that his wife had urged him to reach out to support Affleck during this difficult time, but he decided not to interfere as he didn’t want to add to the turmoil.
Smith acknowledged that Affleck has been going through a tough time, as reported by the press, and expressed his intention to reconnect with his friend once things settle down. Despite staying away for now, Smith mentioned that he plans to reach out to Affleck when they start working on the next Jay and Silent Bob movie in the fall, in which Affleck has appeared before.
While Smith has not been actively involved in the situation, he expressed his interest in providing support to Affleck once the time is right. The filmmaker emphasized the importance of being a good friend and standing by someone in need, even if it means staying away temporarily. Smith expressed his willingness to support Affleck when he is in a better place, indicating that their friendship remains strong despite the current circumstances.
As much as time goes on, these two friends are expected to reconnect eventually. And for fans of the Jay and Silent Bob franchise, it offers hope that another collaboration between the duo may be in the works.
