The highly-anticipated opening of the new Covington Costco off of I-12 is generating excitement among fans, with a Facebook page dedicated to the store boasting thousands of followers. General Manager David Hernandez and his 180-member team have been working diligently to prepare for the grand opening on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Shoppers can expect surprises and a full crowd, so arriving early is recommended. The 150,000-square-foot warehouse will offer a variety of items, including food, household products, automotive, clothing, tech, and travel deals. The store features a ‘seasonal’ section with unique and unexpected items, creating a treasure hunt experience for shoppers. The store has already sold approximately 5,000 memberships, with famous $1.50 hotdog and drink combo available for shoppers. The store will contribute to boosting the Northshore’s economy, with cash registers ready for business on opening day. Memberships can be purchased in-store or online, with the store opening at 8 a.m. on Aug. 28. Gas pumps are already operational at the store.
